Anyone else get a Rejected ad requests warning?

This 39 message thread spans 2 pages: 39 ( [1] 2> >   Anyone else get a Rejected ad requests warning?
 10:44 am on Jul 18, 2012 (gmt 0)
Got this message in my account:

"You have rejected ad requests, which will result in lost revenue"

When you click on the details link - it says "Rejected ad requests"

Ad unit "UNIT NAME" has been shown on "Incorrect sites", and the site is: "googleads.g.doubleclick.net"

I've searched google, and see a few others have this message - which has to be fixed by the 15 August 2012.

I havent changed my ads - or my site, so don't know why i've got this message.

Has anyone else got it, or had it before, or know any more about it?

Cheers!

 3:13 pm on Jul 18, 2012 (gmt 0) 6:59 pm on Jul 18, 2012 (gmt 0)
Nope - i am including them with php "include("ads.php")";

But it's the way i've always done it - for years. So i cannot see why that would be a problem?

Has anyone else had this message?

 8:37 pm on Aug 27, 2012 (gmt 0)
I got it too? My site is in wordpress? I don't hide anything? And I havne't changed anything. Maybe it's scrapers running your content on their server?
 9:18 pm on Aug 27, 2012 (gmt 0)
Got it too today. Is this a bug?
 9:22 pm on Aug 27, 2012 (gmt 0)
Same here just showed up. Seems like it might be your ads showing on a different website ?
 9:33 pm on Aug 27, 2012 (gmt 0)
Weird. I came here to post about this too.

I was wondering if it had something to do with the fact that I am fighting malware on my site. Google hasn't detected malware but some users have complained...it's a sneaky one to get rid of.

My Adsense revenue has plummeted the last couple of days. I wonder if there is a connection.

I don't use iframes at all, but I do use an include in php like a previous poster mentioned.

 9:53 pm on Aug 27, 2012 (gmt 0)
I just got the red bar notice too. It listed the incorrect site as view.atdmt.com. I have no idea what to do about it.
 9:57 pm on Aug 27, 2012 (gmt 0)
Could it be the channel/ad unit that is affected is not performing well and it's giving this error message? What's the size of the ad unit that's giving the 'rejected ad request'? Mine is the 468x15.
 9:58 pm on Aug 27, 2012 (gmt 0)
Just got it. I haven't changed anything. Weird. I thought maybe it has to do with dfp? The ad affected is the 728x90 on the homepage, and it has been underperforming for about a week.
 10:07 pm on Aug 27, 2012 (gmt 0)

That page has some very "interesting" source code, and in particular a javascript..

If one uses dragonfly, one can actually see what it is designed to do..( surprised it wasn't encrypted, considering) ..

However, if one allows javascript, it blocks the usual view source of the browser, and has other "designed in", "effects" on the browser..

The primary domain atdmt.com redirects to
[atlassolutions.com...]

Might there be a connection with the "problem"...?

added..it also drops a bunch of 5 cookies, 4 are 2 year cookies , 1 is a 24 year cookie!

 11:04 pm on Aug 27, 2012 (gmt 0) 11:13 pm on Aug 27, 2012 (gmt 0)
here too.. I just have the google adsense code in a widget on my left hand sidebar on my wordpress site, njplaygrounds.com; (the incorrect sites it refers to is the same as hiccupsheadache, "googleads.g.doubleclick.net"

never had a problem until today. looking at google adsense support, but haven't seen a solution: here's the thread I spotted [productforums.google.com...]

my problem is echoed by jca2112 "How do you get "page_url" to automatically be set for a dynamically created page? Putting this in manually for each page would not be possible -- ..."

I'll be monitoring thread if anyone has some words of advice!

thanks :)

 11:20 pm on Aug 27, 2012 (gmt 0)
Where do you guys see the "incorrect site"? It doesn't show me that.

Where do you guys see the "incorrect site"? It doesn't show me that.

Click on "Details" in the red bar, and it tells you the incorrect site. For me, it is partner.googleadservices.com.

No idea how to fix this.

Just got it today as well. My incorrect sites are:

googleads.g.doubleclick.net
ib.adnxs.com

Haven't changed anything on my site recently to cause this.

I'm thinking that there is some kind of glitch in the AdSense system.
 12:04 am on Aug 28, 2012 (gmt 0)
It has to be a bug if all of a sudden this is appearing to so many people.

Has anyone else who has had this message notice a decrease in Adsense revenue the last few days? I had been tracking along quite nicely for a while and suddenly my revenue is down to about 1/3 to 1/2 of normal for a few days.

 12:05 am on Aug 28, 2012 (gmt 0)
It appears that for some people's sites, that the adsense server thinks it is being called from pages that do not actually exist, it seems to be attributing some of them to dynamic ad serving systems outside of the true "target sites", some of these "non existent" pages (partner.googleadservices.com is a 404 ), even belong to competitors ad serving systems and platforms,( atdmt.com is a Microsoft system )..php includes are obviously also,"dynamic"..and some widgets are confusing it..

But not everyone who runs adsense via "includes" are having the warnings*..

Blocking the pages that it is "imagining" and which are not on your site, might be a hack around it for now..

*But given the apparent randomness of what are being identified erroneously as "errors" by Google's adsense system..a "glitch" at their end seems the most likely explanation, a "glitch" that only they can fix..

 12:10 am on Aug 28, 2012 (gmt 0)
It does seem like a glitch. Everything could be fine tomorrow.
 12:13 am on Aug 28, 2012 (gmt 0)
@LavingRunatic

I started to notice a decrease in Adsense revenue starting Saturday. When did it start yours?

Blocking the pages that it is "imagining" and which are not on your site, might be a hack around it for now

ib.adnxs.com is already listed on Unauthorized Sites list so I'm hoping it's just an AdSense glitch.

Earnings look about right for a Monday.

 12:38 am on Aug 28, 2012 (gmt 0)
FYI: I am having this same issue with adsense. I had an issue with Adwords a few weeks back. They sent me notice that my adwords could not be served in frames and they literally nixed my ads. I had no idea what they were talking about, I use WP and no frames at all.

I said "prove it" and they got back to me saying they had fixed the issue and I was at no fault, but now this adsense "glitch" and it seems like the same indications... Interesting.

 1:29 am on Aug 28, 2012 (gmt 0)
@jbayabas, my drop was dramatic on Wed Aug 22. It was down dramatically for 3 days and has been creeping up again.
 1:31 am on Aug 28, 2012 (gmt 0)
I got the same message today. The specific ad block they referenced, which has not had any changes in more than 6 months, specifies text only. I believe the rejected ad was someone who wanted to post an image ad in that space. I reject image ads because my site is a fairly narrow special interest niche, and in previous tests, all the image ads I have ever seen on my site have poor to terrible contextual relevance - dieting and other unrelated topics. So I have no qualms about rejecting image ads - for me they result in reduced revenues in spite of strong suggestions otherwise by G-adsense staff. I know the specifics of my own site better than they do. I have not seen any reduced revenues in recent days or weeks.
 2:55 am on Aug 28, 2012 (gmt 0)
I got the red bar alert this morning. (ib.adnxs.com) Huge drop on adsense earnings started 3 days ago. Hope it's a temporary glitch...
 3:58 am on Aug 28, 2012 (gmt 0)
I got it too for two separate ad units on two different sites of mine (Incorrect site: googleads.g.doubleclick.net).

I call the first ad via SSI on a static html site; the second one is on a wordpress site. Both are fairly old ad placements that I haven't changed in a long time. I don't use iframes.

I'm just going to check now whether I have these units set up as an "alternate" on the one other major ad network that I use, where they would appear only if the other network has nothing available. I seem to think that is the case. Could this be where an iframe might be used? And could this be the issue for me?

As with any top site that achieves the success on the order that we have, expenses also grow. Dozens of gigabytes of bandwidth per day, multiple servers, legal and business expenses have all grown dramatically in the last year to account for our (just plain) awesome growth.

Advice for first timer at Adsense in Your City?

Advice for first timer at Adsense in Your City?
 4:23 pm on Aug 28, 2012 (gmt 0)
I've never been but will be attending a session soon. Going into this I don't have much of a clue. Is this a situation where you only really want to bring up one of your sites during your session? What if they think your site sucks? I did have a couple questions about business adsense accounts but is there usually not an opportunity to ask one on one questions that are more general? I read somebody here mention you have to arrange a meeting like that for asking oddball questions. I emailed and never got back a response.

I think for the most part I'm a bit anxious as to how prepared I need to be. I have various sites but I don't know if it's a situation where you have to pick one and go in there with it. Does it matter which site I bring in with my stats?

I'm feeling a bit down about my sites and my Adsense earnings. I want to be positive going in there although earnings are down as much as 40-50% for months now. Any advice going into this (blindly) would be appreciated. Thanks.

 4:52 pm on Aug 28, 2012 (gmt 0)
Don't stress or worry about it. They will give some general comments on various topics first. At my session, they wanted to talk lots about mobile - something that could generate lots of traffic for some sites but will be difficult to monitize for many. After the general comments, they will then meet individually with site owners and look at your site. They dont have time to look at lots of different sites if you own many (because they meet individually with every site owner who attends), so they will want to look at your best one or two performers on Google adsense.

They dont have any magic up their sleeves. Most of the suggestions will be along the lines of things you constantly hear from them and can find on G's adsense website - Put your ads in the "hotspots" that attract people's vision, maximize the number of ads on your pages, blend colors of the ads and page background, make all of your ads accept both image and text. You do get a chance to ask questions, and the staffer I talked with was fairly candid and honest. They are helpful and supportive - no one will be telling you your site stinks.

Pick up whatever info you can get your hands on. I got an adsense policy booklet that they dont normally give out.

Talk to other website owners - networking is good.

I had to drive about 130 miles to attend my session - and I thought it was well worth it.

 4:54 pm on Aug 28, 2012 (gmt 0)
(From what I recall) The one I went to couple of years back had a seminar session with young energetic google folks running the show and talking about new exciting adsense products and features. Followed by break time with food & drinks. More talks and product overviews in the second half. You can ask questions during these periods but answers are generally brief.

After the official Adsense in Your City sessions you can have individual sessions with the Adsense team and they can go over your site(s) with you to help you increase conversions. The individual sessions are scheduled on a first-come-first-serve basis and made when you arrive in the morning. So if you do want the individual appt you should try to get there a bit before the sessions starts if your city is generally a busy one.

I wouldn't worry to much about stats. I didn't get a feel that these folks would pour into your stats in detail or even care. It was more "place a banner" here, increase "ad content" here, blah, blah. Nothing specific. Most of these folks were under 25-30 and seem fresh out of college.

Sorry your Adsense earnings are down. The upside is that if you learn one thing new there it is at least worth it and perhaps you may meet other publishers you can share something with.

 4:56 pm on Aug 28, 2012 (gmt 0)
Bring business cards. This is as much a networking event between publishers as it is a meet and greet between you and the AdSense personnel.

Find out what the parking situation is ahead of time. That way if it's tricky you won't be late or have to overpay for public parking. Some of the campuses (like the one in San Francisco) are located in areas that are inconvenient for parking.

The design changes are not all that significant. The most prominent changes are:

Google AdSense Help

(2) Performance Reports are now organized by type to make it easier for you to find and understand the reporting. Here is a screen shot:

And overall the design is clearer and more uniform to other Google interfaces.

The biggest complaints is that the interface no longer works on iPhone or iOS devices well. Additional complaints are on the ad review center, and some button placement is confusing.

LAS VEGAS, Aug. 22, 2012 -- /PRNewswire/ -- Google Adsense, a program that pays third parties for displaying Google ads on their Web sites, is open to all comers. "That is, unless Google makes an arbitrary decision that an applicant's online content violates its terms," said Nadine Gary, president of U.S.-based GoTopless. She said GoTopless is fighting for women's rights to go publicly topless wherever men have the right to do so, on the basis of gender equality as guaranteed by the 14th Amendment. "We tried to set up Adsense for our organization's Web site GoTopless.org, but Google rejected us," Gary said. "Their representative said we're displaying adult content, and that a Web site with illustrations or text unsuitable for young children is generally banned from participating in the Adsense program." But GoTopless's Web site content is no more unsuitable for young children than the images and words they already see elsewhere in our society, according to Gary. "Google is discriminating against us for displaying things children already see in places where female public toplessness is legal," she explained. "Since 1992, women can legally go topless in New York State, as just one example. That means children already see women's breasts in New York City streets and in many other places. Shame on Google for being behind the times and hindering an important women's rights cause, which is also a civil rights cause!" Gary said that although many GoTopless demonstrations are already scheduled in a number of U.S. cities for this coming Sunday, August 26, her organization may opt to add another location to protest Google's decision. "We picked August 26 so that our events will coincide with Women's Equality Day, which commemorates Aug. 26, 1920, the day American women obtained the right to vote," she explained. "But rigid Puritanism is clearly so pervasive in our society that it seems to have affected even companies that were once considered cutting-edge for their liberal orientation. Accordingly, although it's short notice, we may add a GoTopless protest outside Google's headquarters in Mountain View, California, to protest their discriminatory exclusion of our organization from Adsense." MobileApps.com, the 'AdSense for mobile apps', shuts down ... - The Next Web

Singapore-based startup MobileApps.com, which launched its mobile app discovery platform to some fanfare last year, recently decided to call it quits and re-focus on ‘rich media ads’.

The company had raised $400,000 in seed funding from Tokyo-based mobile company I-FREEK.

This morning, founder and CEO Alvin Koay published a press release, announcing that MobileApps.com has now effectively been terminated and that the domain name was put up for sale for the relatively high price of $1 million (a deal would also include the domain name MobileAds.com, to be fair).

According to this report, Koay acquired the domain for $10,000 back when Apple launched its App Store – you do the math.

Do you think MobileApps and MobileAds.com are worth $1 million, combined?

Google AdSense Discontinuing Payments By Check - Search Engine Roundtable

Google AdSense EFTGoogle announced plans to discontinue paying AdSense publishers by check in all countries where they officially support paying by electronic funds transfer (EFT).

Google said "EFT payments are free of charge, less error prone, more efficient and the most environmentally-friendly payment method." In fact, Google has recommended EFT since before 2007, just two years after the EFT option within AdSense went out of beta.

Now, Google is going to require most publishers to receive payment via EFT. For most of you, this is not a big deal. Personally, I've always received them via check, but switching to EFT is not a big deal for me.

Google wrote:

With these changes, please note that the new system won’t support check payments in countries where we offer EFT as a form of payment. If you’re located in a country where we offer EFT payments and you currently receive check payments, please be advised that you’ll need to complete a few steps once your account is upgraded. However, no immediate action is required on your part at the moment. Once your account is transitioned to the new system, you’ll receive an email notification with detailed instructions on setting up EFT payments.

To see if you are effected, see the list of countries on this page.

MUMBAI: On-line music streaming service Dhingana has launched an advertising platform to help brands to reach out to the Indian population around the world.

As part of the initiative, the site has also named face book's product director of advertising and the creator of Google's AdSense Gokul Rajaram on its advisory board.  Prior to joining facebook, Rajaram spent five years as the Product Management director of Google's Adsense and also ran a startup 'Chai Labs' which was later bought out by Facebook.

According to Rajaram, "The streaming market in India is growing at an unprecedented rate, offering myriad opportunities to consumers and brands. With more than 7 million active users on iOS, Android, BlackBerry, and Nokia devices, Dhingana has also been quick in tapping the huge impact that mobile is making in India".

Commenting on Rajaram's appointment, Dhingana COO Swapnil Shinde stated, "We're thrilled to have Gokul on board. Gokul has extensive experience in creating user-friendly and highly profitable experiences for social and mobile platforms. Gokul's experience will be invaluable as we expand the service to reach more users."

Dhingana is expecting the advertising platform to become a 'must buy' joint for advertisers such as movie production studios, music labels, independent musicians, mobile carriers and other brands to reach to young global audience. The site is also offering various ad formats to target ads which are based on factors like music genre, platform, geo-location, and audience demographics.

Speaking about the initiative, Dhingana CEO Snehal Shinde said, "Globally, over 11 million Indian music fans listen to their favourite music on Dhingana. We believe that this is a great motivation for brands looking at innovative avenues to reach out to them. This led us to develop a highly intuitive advertising platform."

Earlier as part of beta testing of the platform, Dhingana had initiated campaign for the film Cocktail, driving 100,000 audio streams of the ad in the first 18 hours, and more than 1 million streams in the first five days.

Google Gives AdSense Interface An Update - WebProNews

Google has revealed a new redesign for the AdSense interface, which it is rolling out this week.

“Your account will still have the same general structure, but you’ll notice some gradual updates to introduce cleaner design elements,” says Arlene Lee of Google’s Inside AdSense Team. “If you’re also using Analytics or AdWords, you’ll be familiar with some of the updates.”

For one, the location of help content has been moved from the left navigation bar to a “Help” link in the top right corner. A “Send Feedback” link has also been added in that area. This link doesn’t get you to account support, so Google suggests that you still turn to the Help Center for answers and contact forms for specific questions. My guess is that people will still use that link for this purpose.

In the “Performance Reports” tab, Google is now organizing reports by type. “Common Reports,” for example, will take you to standard reports, though you can still choose between your default report and your daily performance.

The updates are rolling out over the next few days.

Google Analytics Could Be Banned In Norway - TechCrunch

Google Analytics

The Norwegian Data Protection Bureau has declared that Google Analytics is not in accordance with the law. They justify themselves by referring to a 2008 European Directive that demonstrates once again the ignorance of Eurocrats — even though Norway is not a member state of the European Union. Google will have to deeply alter its popular product in the coming weeks if it wants to keep its doors open to Norwegian developers.

According to the European Parliament, IP addresses are personal data.

The objective of the proposal was to limit the collection of IP addresses by search engines in order to reduce targeted advertising. As Google and others use an ad tracking cookie, it was both a useless and naive Directive.

From time to time, European governments cite that Directive against a particular service or hypocritically ignore it to implement anti-piracy laws such as the HADOPI law in France.

According to Aftenposten and Digi.no, Google Analytics does not comply with that Directive because it is collecting IP addresses and web surfing habits — and it could use that data for its ad business.

In other words, Google cannot provide an analytics service in Norway because it is not a pure analytics company. But why isn’t Yahoo Web Analytics targeted by the Norwegian government as well?

Google will have to change two things in order to comply with the Norwegian law. First, it will have to clarify its terms of service and stop sharing Google Analytics data with other Google services. Second, it will have to anonymize collected data and IP addresses.

That last consequence is a major drawback for Google. One of the appeals of Analytics services is that you can view in which country your users are living and the pages each user has viewed. Competitors will gain an unfair advantage in Norway.

Update: Google has provided a comment in response to the story.

“Google Analytics fully complies with Norwegian and European data protection laws. Every day many Norwegian companies use Google Analytics to improve their online presence and make their websites better for the users.

“Google Analytics is designed to keep information safe. Webmasters using Google Analytics are in complete control over which data is sent to the service and how Google uses, and can use, the information received from their sites.

“We have offered to meet the Norwegian Data Protection Agency several times to answer to any questions on Google Analytics and we remain willing to do so.”

Google and YouTube have got to show more Adsense - The Guardian

Google 'The responsibility is with Google and YouTube, to regain control of their machines.' Photograph: Alamy

There are upsides and downsides to trusting machines to make important decisions. The story of the Mars rover, Curiosity, is a shining example of the former. Nasa's communications expert compared conversing with the 352-million-miles-away-from-home machine to awaiting for a call from an errant teenager. But there is a dark side too, and it largely springs from the assumption that our digital automata have automatically inherited our sense of decency.

Companies pay for online programmes such as Google Adwords where they design ads and set keywords for their advertising campaigns. Google then matches these campaigns to online content, automatically inserting ads into pages on YouTube, which Google owns, and other affiliated websites. Matching text with text is fairly straightforward, but making comparisons in digital media is more complicated, and on occasion ads are displayed because of YouTube's Content ID system.

Content ID depends on copyright holders uploading examples of their products to YouTube from which a comprehensive library of digital fingerprints is compiled. The system then compares uploaded videos against this library, flagging close matches as likely infringements of copyright. In theory, Content ID allows music labels and other copyright holders either to have copyright-infringing content removed, or reclaim some of their losses from illegal distribution by receiving a cut from the advertising revenue.

Additionally, the revenue sharing part of Google Adsense allows YouTube members to also benefit from advertising: Ray William Johnson is the top ranking user on YouTube, earning more than $1m of ad revenue in 12 months.

In practice, the whole system's performance is less than ideal and shows the symptoms of lacking human discretion. In the three years since Content ID was introduced, it has often misidentified content or mismatched keywords, but the most odious outcome from this blind process is the association of product advertising with unrelated and undesirable content.

In a previous article, I wrote about how corporate ads were appearing alongside hate content and neo-Nazi propaganda. Google's excuse is that their quality control is overwhelmed by the volume of uploads, with 72 hours of video uploaded every minute, resulting in nearly 12 years of content uploaded every day. Their solution is to rely upon users of the website to flag content considered inappropriate, as a form of self-regulatory crowd-sourced control.

But relying on users to report videos is not a sustainable way of moderating content and advertising on YouTube. It is out of control: the very same mechanism is also associating ads with other disturbing videos, often showing suicides, murders, and the aftermaths of violent deaths. The multimillion pound dating agency "Cupid", voted Scotland's fastest growing technology company in 2011, were unknowingly paying for their ads to be displayed alongside pornography, "snuff" movies and footage of suicides and accidental deaths. Inexplicably, ads for Zaggora Hotpants, a brand of bioceramic anti-cellulite slimming shorts, were being displayed alongside pro-BNP videos, soft porn and films of actual, often violent, deaths.

One YouTube channel called "Minus Thrash Show" presenting videos of gory accidents and real suicides was recently closed down, but immediately reappeared, sidestepping its expulsion with a subtle renaming and has re-uploaded all its video content. It now broadcasts as "Minus Thresh Show" and has advertising associated with several of its videos: the UK government's national citizen service, pitched as a "a life-changing experience for 16 and 17 year olds", has its ads displayed next to this channel's footage of the aftermath of a traffic accident where the top of a man's skull has been crushed upon impact with the road surface. A decapitated body lies nearby, its head is several metres away. The only explanation provided by the Content ID system for bringing together these apparently disparate elements is a positive match in the video with a song by a "blackened death metal" band from Gdansk.

Two questions arise from this situation: first, is it acceptable that this material is hosted by YouTube and should they and their revenue partners be profiting from its existence? Google announced revenues of $12.21bn (£7.8bn) for the quarter ending 30 June 2012, an increase of 35% compared to the second quarter of 2011, $1.2bn of which comes directly from the UK. That they only paid £6m in taxes against a £2.6bn UK revenue last year is a separate issue. Second, should companies be paying for advertising with Content ID matching that is currently juxtaposing their brands with execrable content?

I share the belief with Robert Levine, the former executive editor of Billboard magazine that, "some people will scream that YouTube is a public space and therefore you can't give them any private liability because it's a freedom of speech issue. But it's not a public space – it's more like a mall than a park. It's a multibillion dollar company and it has to have some kind of corporate responsibility".

While great scientific breakthroughs are hitting the headlines, with the Higgs boson and Curiosity, there are also impressive advances in artificial intelligence. Autonomous moral agents and the moral Turing test will one day produce a machine that can at least emulate decency, and it could be the solution to this problem. Until that point, the responsibility is with Google and YouTube, to regain control of their machines and their greed, and not prioritise money over morals.

• This article was amended on 16 August 2012. It originally referred to "Adsense's Content ID system" rather than YouTube's, and to Google Adsense matching campaigns to online content, rather than Google. It has also been updated with newer statistics on the amount of video uploaded to YouTube every minute (it has increased from 60 hours a minute to 72).

The Nexus 7 is now available on the Google Play store in France, Germany and Spain. The 8GB and 16GB models are both available for €199 and €249 (respectively $249 and $312, sales tax included). Google is the only seller of the 8GB model as the 16GB model will be available in selected retailers as well on September 3.

As in other countries, the tablet comes with €20 ($25) of Play store credit to buy apps, movies and books.

Yet, in those three countries, magazines and music are still not available on Google’s content store. So far, the razor-thin margins on the Nexus 7 are compensated by purchases of music, books, magazines, movies and apps. It will be harder to rake in profit in the three European countries.

By releasing the tablet a week earlier, Google is enticing customers to buy the tablet through its online store in order to avoid retail margins. The tablet is now available in the U.S., Canada, the UK, Australia, France, Germany and Spain.

Even though the Play store is incomplete in those countries, Google might be releasing the Nexus 7 in Europe as quickly as possible before an Amazon press conference on September 6, where a new Kindle Fire is expected, and a hypothetical Apple conference in late September or early October, where the iPad Mini could be unveiled.

Women's rights organization GoTopless alleges discrimination by ... - IT News Online

2012-08-22

LAS VEGAS, Aug. 22, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Google Adsense, a program that pays third parties for displaying Google ads on their Web sites, is open to all comers.

"Their representative said we're displaying adult content, and that a Web site with illustrations or text unsuitable for young children is generally banned from participating in the Adsense program."

But GoTopless's Web site content is no more unsuitable for young children than the images and words they already see elsewhere in our society, according to Gary.

"Google is discriminating against us for displaying things children already see in places where female public toplessness is legal," she explained. "Since 1992, women can legally go topless in New York State, as just one example. That means children already see women's breasts in New York City streets and in many other places. Shame on Google for being behind the times and hindering an important women's rights cause, which is also a civil rights cause!"

Gary said that although many GoTopless demonstrations are already scheduled in a number of U.S. cities for this coming Sunday, August 26, her organization may opt to add another location to protest Google's decision.

Accordingly, although it's short notice, we may add a GoTopless protest outside Google's headquarters in Mountain View, California, to protest their discriminatory exclusion of our organization from Adsense."
